TRACK AND FIELD
Track and Field, also known as Athletics, is one of the oldest sports. The first Track and Field competition was recorded as far back as 776 B.C., in ancient Greece. Only men were allowed to participate at that time. Women's first Track and Field competition began at the 1928 Amsterdam Games. Athletics has 47 events. Women have 23 athletic events, and men have 24 events. The only difference is that men have an extra 50 km Walk. Athletics, can be divided into four groups: combined events ( decathlon, heptathlon), jumping events (pole vault, triple jump, long jump, high jump), throwing events (shot put, javelin, hammer throw, discus), running events (sprint, long distance, hurdles, relays).
